The Friday Vlog

I am not a fan (yet) of themed Christmas trees. I like having ornaments from all over the place. It always brings up great memories looking at old silly ornaments so we are sticking with the "mish mosh" tree for now.

Oh and a few Blogging Buddies get a shout out on this vlog!

Enjoy.

Did you wink at us at the end there G-Money?

Cute post. I love your tree! My mom has been trying to go more 'themed' with hers so all our handmade ones end up on the bottom or in the back. :(

We played a Christmas trivia game at work and someone's item was that they left their LIVE tree up until March 31st to win a bet!

Very cool :)
We do the same thing...I have ornaments my mom passed down to me and I buy my kids 1 special ornament each year so someday they have something to start their own collections...the themed trees are gorgeous but I love to sit by the tree and reflect on the years gone by....

This year has been very difficult for me to get into the spirit with everything we are going through with my mom so hard to start the decorating without being a GIRL and an emotional WRECK LOL thinking about my mom but have to start somewhere and need to fake it till I make it with the kiddos....haha

Thanks for the post George...pulling down tree very soon :)

The wink happened. I don't think much when I make these (as you can tell) so stuff just happens. Like the train not shutting off and the fat guy in a little jacket winking! LOL

One year my cousin (who is a fireman) told us that our tree was so dry, we might as well have a barrel of gasoline sitting in the house. We bought this tree soon after. :)

The holidays can be tough that is for sure. I find that a good cry (which I do whenever I put up the tree) can help.

Awesome tree - my favorite kind with all the ornaments that have personal meaning. I LOVE that sock monkey too! My great-grandma used to make sock monkeys for me, and I so wish I still had one because I loved those things.

Stylin' hat too!

This is so funny. I took a bunch of pictures of my tree last night (and some ornaments) that I intended on putting on my blog today. :)
I love your tree. It's fantastic. I think my fav is the sock monkey...you know I can make those?? I made 2 one year to give out as gifts. Full sized. Grown up socks. :P

We only have a ceramic tree in the apartment, but the Other Half's parents' tree is a collection of ornaments acquired over the years. Each has a story behind it, so it's a sort of a "memory tree"...

My usual outbound Christmas gifts are handmade ornaments (beaded, ribboned, crocheted, tatted, smocked, painted... depending on the base materials I can find and how much time I have to work with them). The DIY Christmas works nicely with low budgets...

I love the mishmash tree - that's how ours was growing up, with all the ornaments my brother and sister and I made, including the moldy macaroni ones and the one made out of lifesavers that turned to dust a few years ago.

I also like your Silver Spoons style train set - nice touch!

And excellent ending Palin-wink. ;)

Lee Ann - I saw that sock monkey ornament at "Cracker Barrel" and told my mom how cute I thought it was. When we sat down to eat she handed me a gift bag with it in it. Mom's rock! (as do great grandmas!)

Cara - I would not want to use my socks. Gross! That is funny that we were on the same wave length!

tmana - DIY ornaments seem to mean so much more I think. I love them.

Kerri - How badly did you want that train set in Silver Spoons? So. freaking. cool.

I did not notice that it was SP wink but I think it was huh? Dangit! She affected my wink! I gotta work on that.

Ya know what I'm sayin'? That there wink. Gotta start workin on it!

P.S. Didn't I give you that pin last year WITH an actual ornament?

I think it was a generic star though. Maybe that is why it didn't make the cut :)

I liked that little paw with Teddy's name on it.

MN - After I finished recording this I watched it and thought, "I forgot to mention Teddy's ornament!"

You have a good eye!

Awesome Tree George! We also like the assorted non-related Christmas decorations too. So many good memories with each ornament. I buy my kids a new ornament every year, usually related to something that happened that year (2004 were sox ornaments for instance etc) So it's fun to look back at them all.

And just so you know- if you cut down a fresh tree you can put it up on Thanksgiving weekend and have it easily last till Epiphany. no problem. And they still stay much fresher than something you buy on a lot. :) Because those tress on the lot, by the time you buy them, they're already 6-8 weeks old.
