A Week Away

I spent all last week feeling sorry for myself which is why I was “away” for the most part. I did not want to have a week full of posts that were all me being down and depressed. I would hate to lose any readers to the blog due to my whiny complaints and depressed tones. I do not like to be a downer at all.

There is another side to the whole “secluded” thing. I did not want to feel better. I did not want to get over it. I wanted to wallow and wade in my own personal bog of eternal stench. There is a weird comfort that comes with being depressed. And I knew if I let you people know then you would cheer me up.

And there it is.

I realized that part of my problem was not being “here” online. This blog and all the blogs I read have become a very important part of my life and well being. When I let you know I am down I always get a “cheer up” comment or “You can do it!” word of encouragement. I know that when I feel supported I want to go out and help support others through their trials and tribulations.

And all of you that comment and let me know that you are here make such a world of difference. I wish I could bake all of you a (low carb) cookie or give you a hug or something. I just want you all to know how much you mean to me. Honestly.

I may not be clicking my heels together but I am feeling much more optimistic.

Thanks everyone!

Oh my friend George. "The Bog of Eternal Stench." There is nothing funnier on this earth than when Sir Didymus and Ambrosious cross the bog and each rock they touch upon makes a farting sound.
As I mentioned in my meme today, I have a particularly unladylike affinity for fart jokes. So yes, while it's easy to wade around in the Bog, you must climb on your Ambrosious and hop along the fart rocks to the shore.

(Whoa. Holy digression. And kind of a creepy metaphor.)

You are much loved, SuperGeorge. It's a pleasure to be a part of your online family.

George, take a listen to this from You Tube.
I was thinking really hard about a fun, upbeat song to cheer you up - something jazzy that you'd wanna get up and dance to. But, nothing seemed right.
Don't ask me how I stumbled upon this, but it's really one of my favorite songs - always makes me cry, but in a good way. Speaks to me about the universal sturggle.
Actually, all the versions sung by Bob himself (and I ain't talking 'bout Dylan) didn't come through very well, so I settled for this unusual combo.
Please don't think I"m nuts in the head.

Good gracious, I just do not proofread until after the fact - the "universal sturggle" - I sort of like that word, "sturggle"..........duh

It's good to know that in the classic battle of bog versus blog - blog wins!

I'm here to say I'm glad you've risen from the depths of the Bog of Eternal Stench to grace us with your presence ;)

I'm scratching my head over what Kerri said....I'll Google it though.

It's from Labyrinth. I loved that movie. I'd forgotten about the bog, but it's a good description.

I think a wallow is good every now and then, as long as you don't stay there permanently. I'm glad you're out of it, but don't feel bad when all you want to do is lie there and be miserable. It's allowed.

Sorry to hear that you're having a bad time at present. That just stinks.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Recently when I was having a hard time, I took to watching Frasier reruns so I had some excuses to laugh more often. It really helped me. I figured it was also good for my general health to be laughing more. I'll keep an eye out for something that might get you going.

I am glad some of you got my Labyrinth reference. Great movie although, David Bowie in stretch pants is kinda creepy.

Anyhow, I am feeling better and MN, that Ziggy clip was great.

I just wanted you all to know that without you, that bog may have gotten the best of me. It helps a lot to spill on my "stuff" here and for you all to kick me in the butt if need be.

The OC rocks.

George,

You say it so well. I know exactly what you mean because at times this post could have been written for me.

Glad that you are bouncing on out!

OMG, it's been years since I saw the Labyrinth. I hardly remember anything from the movie, LOL.

Hey man - I can totally relate to not even wanting to feel better. Seems like some kind of weird comfort in feeling shitty, and it is intimidating the amount of effort that seems required to feel better.

It will work out though - it always does.
