Last night I finished “The Born Again Diabetic” and I had to tell you about it.
Well, what I want to tell you is that you need to read it. Well, if you have diabetes you do. It is not like any other diabetes book I have read. It is funny, to the point, pulls no punches and covers everything!
I should tell you that I am not a reader. It takes me forever to finish any book. I plowed through this book and honestly, want to read it again. It was filled with so much and some things I never knew. I learned a ton and had a great time doing it. Perfect balance right?
This book was written by William “Lee” Dubois, whose blog Life After DX was one of the first blogs I started reading over 3 years ago when I started blogging. He is a great writer and a cool guy.
I know this blog is the B.A.D. blog but as of late I feel like I could be born again, AGAIN. I needed a kick start. A refocusing on my diabetes. This book did that for me and shed a whole new light on why we do what we do and how we should be doing it.
I really cannot think of more to say except, BUY IT AND READ IT! And let me know if you do.
Oh and one last thing, Thanks Lee for writing such a great book! Can’t wait for the next one!!

I too thought his book was incredible. I found myself chuckling out loud at times, and "hmmm"'ing in wonder to myself at others. Such a good book.
I'm glad you liked it! AND he QUOTES SpongeBob Squarepants!!!! That just takes it over the edge! :-)
George, I agree completely except on one point, this book should also be read by every Doctor, Nurse, Endo, etc. I loved the book and learned from it also. I believe that it also gives insight into what makes us, the patient, tick and that's why it would be a valuable resource for the medical community.

Scott - true, Sponge bob was awesome!
Stuart - You are right. In fact I may give it to my wife to read too. I think she would get a lot out of it. Good point.
Hello, well I am trying to learn about blogs and learn how to motivate myself to lose weight so my diabetic conditions do not worsen. I think I will get this book you mention and tell you later what I think. In the meantime, what motivates you to stay on track? Ruth
Ninjabetic -
Just bought it! Looking forward to it.
You piqued my interest regarding the book...and so I went to this man's website to just, well, get to know him, you know?
Anyway, I am very weirded out by his admission to having "cheated" on his wife. There is a lot of underlying freakiness in this guy's blog that is tearing away at the credibility of his book -- at least for me.
Any comments?? Anyone??
Ruth - Being involved in a community online keeps me motivated. Reading blogs, commenting, and writing keeps me learning, sharing and pushing on.
EDONAdesigns - I think you will get a lot out of it!
Anon - I will admit that the post you are talking about was kind of a shock. I thought about it and came to the conclusion that as much as I read and think I understand, I may not. I know I share things I sometimes regret. Sometimes I write things that mean one thing to me and to another, something else. Sometimes my heart and brain are so full of stuff I am not sure what I am writing about. BUT his knowledge regarding diabetes and his ability to teach others about it is amazing. Which is why I wanted to share it with all of you. And for the record, I did not tell Wil I was writing this post. I am not even sure he reads this blog! LOL
I have never read this book you've mentioned. Thanks for sharing, gotta go get a copy.
