The Unbelievable Part of Change

When this whole “change” thing came about we tried a lot of routes in attempt to save our house. They obviously did not work and again, this could end up being about 5 more posts just to explain it all. Maybe I should write a book?

Anyhow, when we finally decided that we needed to find a place to rent we started first with finding the area we needed to stay in to keep both kids in their schools. With George it was easy since High School cover a much larger area but for Gillian it was not so easy. We checked websites, newspapers, and even drove around to no avail. There was a BUNCH for sale but there were none for rent.

At this same time I sat down with my boss to tell him the situation. I still have not told my fellow employees since some of them like to tell me what to do and I just don’t think I can handle it just yet. It is still too fresh. When I told him he was very supportive and said he would help me in any way possible. I told him that the one thing I may need is an advance to cover the deposit for a place if we find one. He was totally cook and said, “of course.”

After shedding many tears in his office and thanking him countless times, he suggested that we talk with the kids. “You guys have always been upfront with them. Let them know. They can handle it. I know your kids and they will understand.”

We had the conversation I wrote about yesterday on a Saturday.

On my way home from church on Sunday I spotted a for sale sign on the way home. Just around the corner from my house so I knew it would be in the district. I got home, checked the website that was listed on the sign in the front yard, and found that 2 homes just went up for rent in our neighborhood. Both with 3 bedrooms and both within our budget.

Jasmine called the recorded number and asked if we could see both of them. We were able to see both on Monday night and really liked one in particular. We took home an application and Jasmine turned it in to the property management company on Tuesday. Wednesday night we got a call from the company saying, “The house is yours if you want it.” Thursday at church I talked to my boss and he had a check waiting for me at the end of the day. Friday we got a cashier’s check, took it to the management company’s office and signed the papers.

In one week we decided, found, and signed the papers on a new place.

It was almost as if, those homes were not going to become available until we were ready to make the move. I know that may sound funny but seriously, it just seems like someone was watching out for us.

God is good.

That's how you know God truly is a presence in our lives; as when times are toughest he shows you.

Love you guys.

It seem like God has been most evident in my life after I let go of something I saw as safe and comfortable and trusted Him. I think He really digs it when we do that :)

George, I can only imagine how difficult this decision and subsequent follow through must have been. My heart goes out for you and your family.

I don't understand why God allows us to go through these difficult times when it is surely in His power to alleviate trials. His ways are His own but He does take care of us.

George,
I've had many times in my life where I felt the situation was hopeless. Then, some divine intervention came my way and I felt so stupid for worrying in the first place. God certainly is good.

I'll leave you with my favorite verse(s).

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6: 28-34).

(((big hug)) George. And, congratulations on your new abode.

Hey, G - Just sending you hugs. You know I believe (truly) in karma. You put so much good - and so much of your peaceful, wonderful self into this world - it could only follow that when you need it - peace, good luck and just plain good will find you. - N

George, you give me hope. I look forward to seeing the blessings the Lord has for you. IT seems like we are all going through the fire lately, and reading about you and the way you are handling your situations are so inspiring. What is happening to you sucks big time, but you will be OK. You have the most important priorities in place, and that is never a bad thing. We can lose much of what we have, but gain in so many other ways. Your children are amazing and a true testament to the life you live... thank you for sharing.
