Every night when I go to bed I check out the bottoms of my feet. They are typically tingling and hurt in spots but I it always seems like they are okay.
For the past two nights Jasmine has spotted me checking out my feet and has offered on both occasions to massage them a little before bed to which I declined. I hate to have her do that stuff unless I am feeling really bad.
I also have a routine each morning where I as soon as my feet touch the floor, I look down at my toes and remind myself why I do not smoke anymore. I honestly do that every day.
So this morning as I was drying off after my shower, I notice a dark spot on the end of my second toe. This spot is not visable when you look straight down on my foot and I am not all Stretch Armstrong so I when I look at the bottoms of my feet I cannot see the very tips of my toes. That, of course, is the place where this spot is. The spot that upon further investigation is a lot worse.
The tip of my tow is purple. I mean, bruised, cut and purple. I am trying my best to not freak out about it which is why I am telling you all. It looks like my toe has been rubbed off or cut or was stuck in a blender. It is awful looking but of course does not hurt one bit.
I put some Antibacterial cream on it and wrapped it up. I am going to check it throughout the day here at work and not freak out unless something changes. I will just keep an eye on it now but it reminded me of how easily and painlessly diabetes can hurt us.
The damage to my kidneys, eyes, nerves, they go undetected until its too late.
I hope my toe gets better. I am not sure I have convinced myself how to not freak out.
Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

My suggestion is that you get in and get some help dealing with it. You don't know how long it has been like that.
Better safe than sorry man.
Don't hesitate to go to the doctor! It's always best to have it looked at and find out you're doing the right thing than to wait too long and hear, "You should have come in sooner."
I agree...doc appt...I also want to mention ... Don't push Jasmine's offers aside George, I know how you feel that you really don't want to "bother" your spouse with something you feel like you have to internally deal with or until it gets so bad you "have" to ask her for help or even the guilty pangs we all feel...I fall into this too much with Dan not accepting the help that he offers me because I'm too dang stubborn...
I'm realizing though that when I do this I'm actually pushing him away and he would not offered to help me unless he really meant it which I'm sure Jasmine is doing too...she would not offer to rub the piggies unless she thought she was doing something that mattered and was heartfelt......so let her rub your piggies more George because that will only reinforce the relationship and intimacy you have with wifey....
Okay I think I wrote some of that for me too..LOL
Praying for you ninja dude!
Hopefully just fine, but why risk it? Sometimes the freaked out feeling is telling us to go ninja and take some action. Now pick up that phone and call the doc. As for the piggie massage...never, I repeat, NEVER turn down an offer for a good foot massage!
Go to the doc. It's better to treat it now than to let it get worse.
Repeating what everybody else said. BE freaked out. See the doc. These things can develop more rapidly than most of us would suspect... A close T2 friend went from perfectly healthy to losing his big toe (and happy not to have lost his entire foot!) in a ten-day period.
Like everyone else said, get to the doctor. Better to get on oral antibiotics and treat it aggressively than get yourself into a 'too little, too late' scenario. Keep us updated.
Doctor. Now.
Another repeat - see the doctor.
And accept Jasmine's offer graciously.
I agree with going to the doctor. Also, while Jasmine is rubbing your piggies, she may be able to see things that you can't and can help avoid a bad situation. You know all about my father-in-law, so I don't need to go there, but really. . . Go to the doc ASAP!!!
George, I am your friend but I must be stern with you (because you are one tough drum-playing ninjabetic).
Why in the heck do you look at your feet every day - to notice something and then get freaked but do nothing? Sheesh!!!!
GO TO THE DOCTOR. NOW. For your own peae of mind and to possibly nip a bad situation in the bud.
I hate being constantly preocc upied with symptoms and fear. But, when something obviously should be checked out, you MUST do so.
God forbid, what would you say if the toe became dangerously infected? "Ah shucks, there was nothing I could have done about it."??? Early intervention is important.
Now I am maybe gonna not send this because I feel like a mean old witch.
Shoot, I am because you and all ten of your toes are very dear to my heart. And I dont want to spend the whole weekend worrying about you.

I hope you'll give us an update - and that it will include a visit to the doc. I know that sucks, but as everyone has said, better safe than sorry.
I know, being the partner of a guy who has some pretty severe health issues related to high blood pressure, when I offer to assist in something - I never feel "put upon" if the answer is that he needs my help. Jasmine is offering because she loves you and she wants you to be your best - and because she knows you offer her that same kind of love and support.
I am sending you the biggest, most gigantic hug and my best, healthiest, piggiest thoughts.
oooxxx - N
I have to agree with everyone else, and say get it checked out by a medical professional. Believe me, my first instinct is always to avoid going to the doctor at all costs, but that can only make things worse. You are a tough Ninja, so get that toe checked out!!
Oh, and take all the foot rubs you can get. Can Jasmine persuade Pete to offer them to me more often? He usually only offers when he wants something in return. :)
Don't put off going to the Doctor. A sore on the foot of someone with diabetes is a signal light and one you must take care of immediately. It may be nothing, but it may also be something that can be taken care of easily.
George,
First of all, don't beat yourself up for what you did or didn't do to take care of yourself in the past. You made major changes over the past few years with quitting smoking and taking better care of yourself. You can't change the past all you can do is move forward. And from what I can see, you are moving forward in a positive, awesome, fun way.
Second, just like everyone said, go to the doc. I know it's a pain but you will feel better if you go and get some kind of answer rather than driving yourself nuts.
Third, accept a big virtual hug from me. Hang in there!
