Wearing a Patch

No not that kind!

As of this morning I have applied a Nicotine patch since my last
attempt
failed. I am hoping that with a little help from the patch I will be able to kick this habit once and for all.

I had an appointment on Friday with my Endocrinologist and he was pretty happy with my numbers. He gave me lab work paperwork to see what my A1C looks like and of course other tests.

I asked him for a referral to a CDE and a Podiatrist. You see, I have a little discoloring in one of my toes and it is not the one I had
a problem with in July.
I had noticed this a while back. I had mentioned it to the old crazy doctor I had a while ago and he told me that was normal! This is one of the many reasons I do not see this quack any longer.

I know that my smoking directly affects my blood flow and lack of blood is what is causing the grayishness of “the piggy that stayed home.” I know it seems a selfish reason to quit but it is tangible. I can see that smoking is hurting me even though I have always known it was hurting me inside.

Here I am on the pump, checking my BG 8-10 times a day, counting all my carbs, and exercising each day. WTF am I doing continuing to smoke? It is almost as if it is the one thing I was holding onto. It kept me different and made me feel rebellious. Not to mention I am addicted.

Let’s hope that this time is the last time I ever have to quit this stupid addiction. Your words of encouragement and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

In the box of Patches, there was a little wallet card that says, “Reasons why I quit.”

1. My Toes / Feet
2. George
3. Gillian
4. Jasmine
5. My (future) Grandchildren

It took Pili YEARS to quit, even living with me and my razor sharp nose for cigarette smoke. The patch helped.

You can do it George!

I think this is a good plan George! Trying to go cold turkey is really really hard.

So - you're headed in the right direction - and I'm sure you will be able to stick with it!

Remember - focus on progress, not perfection. Small steps.

Hurray for you. We used to have a talk radio hostess here in town who had been in treatment for obesity, alcohol and prescription drugs and she said that tobacco was the absolute hardest thing to overcome!
You can do it.
(As far as quack doctors go......I have known many.)

Best wishes,
Kathy

You, go George! We're with you, 100%! You've reached out for good health. This is just another stretch. You can do it! Oh, and I'd wear the pirate patch, too. It might help-you never know.

Good luck! You CAN do it. I smoked for 10 years - I cannot believe it was that long. During those 10 years I quite once for about 9 months (though I did smoke occationally during that time). I have now quite again - it has been over 5 months already (I have stopped counting). I miss it - but more the social aspect about it than the smoking itself... If I could do it so can you!!! Positive thinking!!

George, I have such faith in you that I know you'll be able to do this. Your reasons for quitting are the best in the world.

Lean on us for support! And I have an obscene stockpile of sugarfree gum, if you need any. I'll overnight it to you by the pound. :)

George,

Best of luck buddy! I understand that it's very difficult to quit, but keep the reasons you are quitting in mind as you progress.

Keep fighting that urge!

Quitting smoking is tough. Good luck with it - I think your reasons are excellent. Gum helped me when I quit. Gum and eating lots of baby carrots.
